What is a Pet Sitter?
A. A "Pet Sitter" is a person that is hired to come to your home to take care of your pets.
How do I get started with Angel Pet Sitting?
A. The first thing you need to do is give us a call or send us an email. If you email, please include the following information: Name, Address, Best Phone # to reach you at, # and type of all your pets. If you are interested in vacation care, let us know your travel dates and when you will need visits. For daily dog walk clients, please indicate what days of the week and time you would like a pet sitter to come each week. We will then contact you to set up your Free Get Acquainted Visit to meet you and your pets. We will return all calls and emails within 24 hours, Monday - Friday.
What kind of pets do you care for?
A. We care for all domestic pets, including dogs, cats, birds, fish, guinea pigs, rabbits, mice, reptiles, chinchillas, etc. We can also provide horse and farm care (please call for details and rates). If you have a pet that is not listed, just ask!
How many visits a day do you provide for pets?
A. You decide that. For inside dogs, we do a minimum of two (2) visits per day and as many as four (4) visits per day. Most people request 3 visits each day. It really depends on your dog's needs. Outside dogs require a minimum of one (1) visit a day unless you feel your dog needs more visits for medication or other needs. For cats, we do a minimum of one (1) visit, every-other-day.
How many pets are included in your base prices?
A. All of our prices include care for up to 2 pets. Additional pets over 2 are $2 extra per visit. Angel Pet Sitting does not charge extra for administering medications, registration fees, weekend visits, and general house tasks (bringing in mail, taking out trash, altering lights, etc.). Our initial Get Acquainted Visit is always FREE! These factors make our prices the most competitive in the area.
Where is your facility located?
A. We are NOT a facility. We are an in-home professional pet care company, which means we take care of your pets in the comfort of your own home. Our administrative offices are located in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. Our pet sitters live throughout Montgomery, Delaware and Chester Counties, in order to cover our large service area.
What is the importance of mid-day dog walks?
A. A well-exercised dog is a happy dog, and is therefore less likely to display destructive behavior in your home. Also, providing a stimulating break during the day can help prevent and/or alleviate separation anxiety and other common problems. Last but not least, all pets crave human companionship, and if you are gone most of the day that means your furry friend is all alone. A mid-day walk really breaks up the monotony of the day for your dog.
How do you choose the Pet Sitters that you hire?
A. Angel Pet Sitting’s first priority is the safety and security of our clients’ pets and home. Our pet sitters go through a rigorous interview process, followed by criminal records checks, one-on-one training with the owner, Jean Brillman, and numerous supervised visits, before they begin caring for pets on their own. All of our sitters are also certified in Pet First Aid/CPR through Pet Tech, every 2 years.
Are you bonded and insured?
A. Yes, we are both bonded and insured through the Business Insurers of the Carolinas in Chapel Hill, NC. During our initial interview, we will show you copies of our Policies.
How is your service different than an independent pet sitter?
A. The old adage “You get what you pay for” is definitely true in the pet care industry. With Angel Pet Sitting, you are getting a professional company, excellent customer service 24/7, a team of experienced, background checked sitters, and peace of mind that we are insured and bonded.
Will the same pet sitter be coming to my home for all future visits?
A. Yes. Angel Pet Sitting always makes our best effort to send the same pet sitter each time you book visits with us. However, if there is an emergency or your primary sitter is booked, we will send a back up sitter in their place. We are always more than happy to set up another Free Get Acquainted Visit with the back-up sitter, if time allows.
Do you accommodate last minute reservations?
A. We will do everything we can to find a sitter for you last minute, although we cannot guarantee it. We book up quickly in the summer and on all major holidays, so try to book in advance! During busy times, we have been booked 2-3 weeks in advance.
Can I hire my pet sitter directly?
A. No. Please do not place our employees in the uncomfortable position of offering them employment apart from Angel Pet Sitting. Our sitters are contractually prohibited from soliciting or accepting employment directly from Angel Pet Sitting’s clients. Every pet sitter is our contracted employee and such behavior would breach their contract and they would be stealing from the company. We are aggressive in protecting our business from theft.
Can I book reservations and make schedule changes directly with my pet sitter?
A. All reservations and schedule changes MUST be made by calling or emailing the office. If you do not make reservations through the office, then neither you nor the pet sitter will have the protection of the dishonesty bond, liability insurance, or our worker’s compensation coverage. Additionally, every pet sitter is our contracted employee and such behavior would breach their contract.
How do I know the pet sitter actually shows up?
A. We hire responsible pet sitters. We are EXTREMELY picky about who works for Angel Pet Sitting. To help our sitters do their job properly, while assuring your confidence, we require them to leave you notes for each and every visit they make. They will tell you of your pet's behavior, as well as meal, exercise and general health details. We certainly would not have remained in business since 2004 if our pet sitters failed to show for their scheduled visits.
Should I tip my pet sitter, and if so, how much?
A. Treat our service as you would any other service. Pet sitters are thrilled to receive monetary appreciation for a superior effort. Some clients tip at Christmas, some a few dollars each visit, some give gifts or just do nice things for the pet sitter. Nothing is ever expected, but it is certainly appreciated. Please leave all tips separate from payment, or note on checks the dollar amount of the sitters tip.
How am I billed and when is my payment due?
A. Payment is expected to be left at the beginning of the pet sitting reservation. We currently only accept cash or check made out to Angel Pet Sitting. Daily and weekly dog walk clients are welcome to send electronic checks via their online banking.
Is my personal information on the Service Agreement kept confidential?
A. Yes! We do not disclose any client information to any third parties. All Service Agreements are kept at the Angel Pet Sitting administrative office. Only the owners and/or the designated pet sitter will have access to your personal information.
I have had a bad experience with another pet sitting company. How can you guarantee that will not repeat with Angel Pet Sitting?
A. Over the years we have received many questions such as this one, especially during economic downturns. We will do everything we can to ease your mind and prove to you that we are a professional company with professional pet sitters.
